Just a quick post to let everyone know that MacNoob.net now has iPhone formatting. If you view MacNoob with an iPhone or iPod Touch you’ll see something completely different now. Thanks to the folks at bravenewcode.com I was able to install their wpTouch theme into WordPress that senses the browser type and formats MacNoob accordingly. You can even add MacNoob to your iPhone’s home screen! All you iUsers out there give it a try!

I enjoy Twitter. Following interesting people who provide links to fresh web content is fun and helps keep me informed. That being said, some have turned Twitter into a quasi-ruler for measuring success. I just finished listening to the most recent “This Week in Tech” podcast where the last ten minutes of the show was nothing but a contest about which one of the hosts (Leo Laporte and John C. Dvorak) could garner the most followers. They even talked about giveaways (bribery) to reward followers. It all sounded a bit self-serving and was completely boring. I watched this week’s DiggNation and Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht did the same thing. They were offering their used iPhone and used XBox 360 respectively (autographed, no less). I have no problem with self-promotion as a rule. Hell, I even do it! These guys spend a ton of time producing excellent web content that is, for the most part, very entertaining. Honestly though, I’d rather listen to a commercial than hear about how many tens of thousands of Twitter followers these guys have. A few weeks ago it was mildly interesting but now it has turned into some sort of digital pissing contest.
By the way, my Twitter handle is BikerFunJoe.
