If you spend all day most every day staring at a computer screen like I do, you might get bored looking at the same old wallpaper day after day. I’m always on the lookout for new eye candy to dress up my desktop because I typically change my wallpaper every week or so. Working for a Windows-laden corporation, I prefer my desktop advertise the fact that I “Think Different”. Consequently, I’ve managed to collect quite a few Apple and Mac-centric wallpapers over the past several months and thought I’d share them with everyone. I’ve uploaded 68 of my personal favorites. Some of these you may have, some you may not and to the best of my knowledge none violate anyone’s copyright or license agreement. In any case, click here to peruse and download any (or all) you like.
P.S. Feel free to put them on your Windows machine if you use one at work or if you’re just waiting to purchase a good computer.

I enjoy Twitter. Following interesting people who provide links to fresh web content is fun and helps keep me informed. That being said, some have turned Twitter into a quasi-ruler for measuring success. I just finished listening to the most recent “This Week in Tech” podcast where the last ten minutes of the show was nothing but a contest about which one of the hosts (Leo Laporte and John C. Dvorak) could garner the most followers. They even talked about giveaways (bribery) to reward followers. It all sounded a bit self-serving and was completely boring. I watched this week’s DiggNation and Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht did the same thing. They were offering their used iPhone and used XBox 360 respectively (autographed, no less). I have no problem with self-promotion as a rule. Hell, I even do it! These guys spend a ton of time producing excellent web content that is, for the most part, very entertaining. Honestly though, I’d rather listen to a commercial than hear about how many tens of thousands of Twitter followers these guys have. A few weeks ago it was mildly interesting but now it has turned into some sort of digital pissing contest.
By the way, my Twitter handle is BikerFunJoe.
As anyone who reads this blog would know, I’ve made my 17″ Macbook Pro my primary machine. I also own two iPods, a 30 gig 5.5 Gen iPod Video and a 16 gig iPod Touch. What you might not know is that I also own a 30 gig Zune. I only used it for a couple of months before I bought my first iPod. I’m a computer geek, not a marketing expert but I thought it might be a good promotion to give something away in hopes of getting more traffic to my blog. So, here’s the deal. When I get to 1000 registered users on MacNoob.net/blog I’ll randomly select one of them to win my Zune. I’ll even pay for the shipping! It’s that simple. In the sidebar of my main page there is a “Register” link where you can select a user name and supply an e-mail address. A login password will be e-mailed to you. Log in one time, and that’s it! You’re registered. I promise, your e-mail address will not be given to anyone!
The Zune is one of the original “first gen” models (black), but I’ve upgraded the firmware to the newest version (something I wish Apple would do with older iPods). I’ll also throw in all the extra Zune hardware I bought for it:
- A Zune carrying case
- A wall charger
- A Zune dock (with remote and A/V cables)
I’m just curious if something as simple as posting this will get my blog any attention. I’ll begin posting the number of registered users soon so everyone can keep track of when the drawing will be held.
Hey, I’m not above bribing readers to visit my site.
