The 5 Best and Worst Parts of Owning a Mac
I’m still a relatively new Mac user having bought my first Mac in October last year. Still, I find it relatively easy to compile a list of likes and dislikes.
First, the best parts…
5. Macs are pretty. Apple seems to put a lot more effort into their design than any PC maker I’ve seen. From Mini to Pro, Mac and OS X look better outside and in.
4. Macs are cool! I never got reactions from people when I used my Dell XPS like I get with my 17″ Macbook Pro. It’s like pulling into a drive-in in a Corvette.
3. Macs handle multiple monitors better than PCs. OS X treats monitors like separate entities, not one big monitor. You’d think MS would have figured this out by now.
2. Macs are built for media. Audio, video, photos, whatever, Macs have better tools for creating, and manipulating them. Core animation is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
1. NO MALWARE! Enough said.
and the worst parts…
5. Fewer software titles. I get a little frustrated when I see a great app and there’s no Mac version.
4. Less peripheral support. Printers, scanners, external storage, keyboards & mice, etc. Your selection gets really narrowed when shopping with a Mac in mind.
3. No Games. Don’t bother arguing with me about this. When Halo 3 is available for the Mac then we’ll talk.
2. Apple makes you do it their way. OS X is inflexible, hardware upgrades are a real pain and can even void your warranty, my power supply is patented by Apple…need I go on?
1. Steve Jobs is an egocentric ass! “Reality distortion field”? “Cult of Mac”? Give me a break! Swooning fanboys make me sick. I never want to be mistaken for one of them or any other Apple snob. It’s just a computer, for God’s sake. Steve’s lemming followers need to get lives.
